Pre-designed life

I just recieved an email from one of my friend who is a great Christian. She sent me a powerpoint file with the pictures and stories of how some people escape their tragic death on the 9/11 event. The show tells that every little thing in our life is designed by God and we should appreciate that. I have to disagree on that and want to show my view on how certain thing happen in our life in a perspective of Vietnamese philosophy.

So we back at the "God designed all" theory. If you say that becaue of God help those men with those little things, they have survived, my question is whe he/she did not help the rest of them. Moreover why he/she did not stop the terrorist to attack the planes. Why he/she did not make the bomb became mal-fucntion and did not work. Oh, you know why? Because if he does that there would be nothing for the world to look at and then for some people to say that, oh I am alive because of God. Then if it happens like that, then God is not hing but a selfish being need to be remembered, worship no more no less.
That could be enough about God since if I keep going, this blog will become an anti-christ one and people will give me comments like :"oh ye has little faith." So GG god see you later. What I want to take out from that idea is the believe in our pre-designed life. There are certain events in life that things just happen to happen and we can not explain why and how. Some call it luck, some says it faith. The question of how and why those events happen has been the great challenge of human kind. All over the world many people have tried to investigate and figure out how to predict those events. Yet the answers were found. According to my good friend David, serveral scientists have been trying to investigate to find out how to predict certain events. But it will might take them several life time to complete their works.
Now if you look back every cultures, you will se that people all over the world have been talking, discussing about that since the very dawn of their civilization. And as usual when they can not explain it they turn it into religion. People say that everything that happens in our life is belong to faith. That our lives have been pre-designed and arranged into a certain pattern, or path and we can not change it. The Roman showed their belives in this theory with Heroes and Gods and prophecy. They told that some people can tell your future but in a cryptic way and you can only regconize it when it happened. The Vietnameses and Chineses belive that your lives have been predesigned and written in the book which is kept by the king of underworld. In some stories in fact he, the king of underworld, showed some men their future and what exactly would happen.
So the question is now that what do you think about that? Do you think that your life has been redesigned and no matter what you do, you would not be able to change it? I would say no. Certainly there is something in life that when you look back and you say that oh I was lucky. But that is only little thing, may be it's not even luck. It's the accumulation of what you had done in the past which gives you the outcome of the present event. As the man of science and logic, I do not believe in pre-designed life. Our life is what we made. This might sound like the chaos theory but when you make one event, it can affect to your others or even other people's. Lets take an example. You go to a small donut shop and ask for a few donut. However the men in there were talking on the phone. When he saw you, he did not want you to hear his conversation so he left out of the store and asked you to wait for about 2 minutes. Right after he walked out a drunk driver drove off the road and hit him. You stood there and phew to yourself because if you were done with the donut, that would be your place. And so because of you, the man had to walk out and die.
I believe that life is nothing but a domino effect. You act on one event and the other act on theirs. And when all the results of those events collapse we have a network of cause and effects in which one new event can be the intersection of many other results. So next time if you fail your finals, do not assume that's your faith, find someone to blame, may be your parents, your roomate or the girl who you fucked so hard last night that you did not have time to study.
